For all of February 2020 we are donating $1 of every bottle of our famous Buffalo Sauce sold to our newly established J. Timothy's Taverne John Huwe Memorial Scholarship at Plainville High School.
John was an integral part of the restaurant since day one. He had previously worked with co-owners Jim and Tim at a corporate chain of restaurants in Pennsylvania in the 1970s. When Jim and Tim purchased Cooke's Tavern in 1979, John moved to Connecticut to be the opening Chef. Later, he became a minority partner and Manager. He was beloved by everyone for his big heart and huge sense of humor. "John Boy" (his nickname) always had a joke for every interaction with guests or staff. He raised his family and lived in Plainville until he passed in 2017.
The J. Timothy's Taverne John Huwe Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student at Plainville High School who 1) plans to attend a Connecticut college or university, and 2) has an interest in small business and/or entrepreneurship.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to lovingly remember and honor John's legacy.
